[Immunochemical methods of determining myoglobin in blood and urine].

An immunological method for determining myoglobin in biological liquids has been developed. Application of tritiated myoglobin in radioimmunoassay (RIA) opens up an opportunity to create a Soviet long stored RIA kit. The use of the antibody neutralization test to detect hypermyoglobulinemia and myoglobinuria in myocardial infarction patients is characterized by simplicity, little time consuming, and may be used in practical medicine as a preliminary test in timely diagnosis of myocardial infarction.

[Magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of benign renal parenchymal epithelial tumors: MRI -- pathomorphological comparison].

The study evaluates the MRI diagnostic value in the discovery and characterization of the benign epithelial renal parenchyma's neoplasms. Among more than 700 patients with renal tumors, which underwent MRI, 27 histopathologicaly verified cases of adenoma (10), malignant adenoma (11) and oncocytoma (6) were selected and the retrospective analysis of these 3 groups was performed. The 30 patients with small renal cell carcinoma were accepted as a control group. The benign tumor's MRI semiotics is described in general and in the particular for each nosological form. The author considers that MRI data reliably reflect the true morphological structure of the neoplasm's growth, concerning the secondary tumor's tissue alterations (r = 0.89), the presence (r = 0.92) and safety (r = 0.81) of pseudocapsula. At the same time, the specific MRI criteria for the different types of benign and small malignant tumors were not found.

[Magnetic resonance tomography in the diagnosis of nonorganic bulky masses of the retroperitoneal space. Part 1. Cysts, abscesses and flegmons].

The paper considers the diagnostic capacities of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting non-organic bulky masses of the retroperitoneal space. Based on the analysis of tomographic findings in 23 patients with non-organic cysts of the retroperitoneal space and 27 patients with its abscesses and phlegmons, the first part of the paper describes the MRI semiotics of these diseases in detail and proposes methodic approaches to their identification. Comparison of the data of MRI and pathomorphological analysis of operation materials has yielded the rates of sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the method, which are equal to 100, 88.5, and 94.2% for non-organic cysts and 100, 87.1, and 93.5%, respectively. The authors note the lower efficiency of MRI in recognizing hydatid cysts and foreign bodies than ultrasound study and X-ray computed tomography and show it necessary to take into account clinical information in making a radiological conclusion.

[Magnetic resonance imaging of non-organic bulky masses of the retroperitoneal space. Part 2. Primary and metastatic tumors].

Based on MRI findings in 15 patients with primary non-organic tumors and 9 patients with metastatic neoplasms of the retroperitoneal space, the paper describes the MRI-semiotics of these diseases and proposes methodological approaches to their identification in its second part. By comparing the data of MRI and autopsies, the author defines the values of the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the technique in detecting primary and metastatic non-organic tumors of the retroperitoneal space. The author emphasizes the advantages and disadvantages of MRI, shows how difficult to make a differential diagnosis of benign and malignant types of primary non-organic tumors by means of this method.

[Magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of nonorganic hydatid disease].

This article evaluates MRI diagnostic value in discovering of the non-organic hydatid disease. MRI data of 21 patients, suffering from parasite pathology of liver (n = 12), liver and peritoneum cavity (n = 2), liver and retroperitoneal space (n = 2), liver and thigh's muscles (n = 1), peritoneum cavity (n = 2), retroperitoneal space (n = 1), spine and paravertebral area (n = 1) were analyzed. Based on histopathological results, features of unusually localized hydatid cysts (HC) MRI- semiotics are described in detail and compared with liver echinococcosis. MRI technique for identification of some hydatid cyst's structures is shown. The authors discuss the MRI reliability in differential diagnosis of non-organic HC and several disorders (non-parasite congenital and acquired cysts, hematoma, abscess, metastasis) of the same anatomical region. They underline some MRI advantages in GD disclosing comparing with ultrasonography and computed tomography. However, serological tests are needed for diagnosis verification. The authors also postulate the importance of clinical data being taken into account for radiological conclusion.
