Morphological features of adenohypophysis and epiphysis of fetuses weighing 4.0 kg and more were studied and their morphometry was done in comparison with a control group (3.0-3.5 kg). The correlation coefficient of the fetus growth and diameter of acidophils of adenohypophysis was found to be +0.81, that of the fetus growth and acidophil nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio to be -0.70, that of the fetus growth and intensity of specific (to somatotropic hormone) immunofluorescence of adenohypophysis section to be +0.73, indicating to a strong relationship between these parameters. It is suggested that functioning of the epiphysis and intrauterine fetus growth depend on the light conditions under which the pregnant woman lives.

The biological action of deep freezing (-196 degrees C) on the ovary with the purpose of establishing the possibility of using low temperatures for long-term storage of this tissue was studied. The use of polyethylene oxide of molecular weight 400 at an optimal concentration (20%) for freezing at a rate of 1 degree per minute to -8 degrees C, then 10 degrees/min to --196 degrees C permits to retain the functional activity of the ovary and restoration of its function after transplantation.
