[The effect of activating agents on the membrane potential of lymphocytes in hypertension patients].

Changes of membrane potential of lymphocytes of peripheral blood under the influence of the activation agents: phytohemagglutinin, concanavalin A and Ca(2+)-ionophore A 23187 in 25 patients (men) with hypertensive disease and 8 healthy persons (men) aged 25 to 35 years have been studied. The results obtained testify to the existence of functional disturbances of lymphocytes' membrane and confirmed the wide-spread of the membrane defect in patients with hypertensive disease.

[Damage to the Ca2+-transport function and the lipid component of the sarcoplasmic reticulum membrane in total ischemia of the rat myocardium].

The Ca2+-transporting activity, lipoperoxide chemiluminescence and phospholipid spectrum of sarcoplasmic reticular membranes were studied in ischemic rats. It was shown that a substantial reduction in Ca2+ uptake rate by the sarcoplasmic reticulum occurred within the first 30 minutes and correlated with the increase in chemiluminescence intensity and accumulation of lysophosphatidylcholine. It has been suggested that free radical lipid peroxidation and phospholipase activation are directly related to the reduction of Ca2+-transporting rate by sarcoplasmic reticulum in myocardial ischemia.

[Effect of the calcium antagonist diltiazem on the prostacyclin-thromboxane ratio in the plasma of ischemic heart disease patients].

Content of prostacyclin and thromboxane was studied in blood plasma of patients with ischemic heart disease after single administration of calcium antagonist diltiazem. The drug caused an increase in content of prostacyclin and in the ratio prostacyclin/thromboxane. Diltiazem appears to differently affect the arachidonic acid metabolism in platelets and endothelial cells that may be involved in therapeutic effect of the drug under conditions of ischemic heart disease.

[A simple method for estimation of phospholipids in biological objects].

A simple method to estimate phospholipids is elaborated. This method is based on determination of optical density of phospholipid-molybdate complexes in chloroform. The method is used for the quantitative determination of phospholipids in biomembranes, liposomes and blood serum without their preliminary extraction, as well as in chloroform, methanol and chloroform-methanol solutions. It is also modified for the phospholipids determination in chromatographic fractions on silufol plates.

[The effect of total ischemia on the Ca2+-transporting activity of the sarcoplasmic reticulum of the rat myocardium].

Different caffeine and calcium concentrations have been studied for their influence on Ca2(+)-pumping function of sarcoplasmic reticulum in a homogenate from control and ischemic rat myocardium. Ca2(+)-transporting system of sarcoplasmic reticulum terminal cisternae membranes from the ischemic myocardium was found to be more sensitive to Ca2+ and caffeine action, inhibiting Ca2+ uptake velocity, as compared to control. This may be one of causes leading to the contractibility disorder under myocardium ischemia.

[The effect of hypothermia on the Ca2+-pump in sarcoplasmatic reticulum during autolysis of the myocardium].

Certain hypothermia action mechanisms on Ca2(+)-pump of the sarcoplasmic reticulum in rat myocardium autolysis are investigated. The complex dependence of Ca2(+)-transporting system preservation in autolysis on the depth of hypothermia is shown. The role of lipid peroxidation and endoproteolysis in a decrease of the autolysing myocardium Ca2(+)-pump activity is considered. A conclusion is drawn that hypothermia does not affect the accumulation of peroxidation products in sarcoplasmic reticulum membranes during myocardium autolysis. The protective action of deep hypothermia on the autolysing myocardium Ca2(+)-pump is realized, at least partially, due to an increase in the Ca2(+)-ATPase active molecules number.

[The modelling of acute myocardial ischemia-reperfusion in animals with a closed chest and natural breathing].

A new method of reproduction of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion is represented in this article. It permits studying: cardiodynamic changes accompanying the local myocardial ischemia and reperfusion under physiological conditions; changes in the retrograde blood flow from the ischemic region; changes in the reperfusion blood flow; intercoronary relations; biochemical parameters of the blood from the ischemic region of the myocardium.

[Effect of lipoxygenase derivatives of linoleic acid on functional activity of neutrophils].

The effect of lipoxygenase derivatives of 13-hydroperoxylinoleic acid (13-HPODE) and 13-hydroxylinoleic acid (13-HODE) on zymosan-induced chemiluminescence of rat neutrophils in vitro was evaluated. It was found that both derivatives inhibit functional activity of neutrophils. The extent of inhibition was changed by preincubation of neutrophils with arachidonic or linoleic acid. On the other hand, in experiments with dogs it was shown that the extent of such inhibition considerably increases after ischemia and reperfusion of myocardium. Thus we assume that the ratio of lipoxygenase derivatives of arachidonic and linoleic acid play the regulative role in functional activity of neutrophils. It was concluded, that lipoxygenase derivatives of linoleic acid inhibited the neutrophils functional activity.
