[Clinical death in the acute period of myocardial infarction].

A total of 143 clinical deaths in cases with favourable prognosis in the acute period of myocardial infarction have been analyzed. It has been found that in 91% of cases the death was caused by primary ventricular fibrillation, in 9% by asystolia.

[Seasonal changes in the blood coagulating and anticoagulating system indices in men at the preclinical stage of ischemic heart disease].

Examination of 52 males (aged 23 to 40 years) in the preclinical stage of ischemic heart disease revealed seasonal differences in the values of the blood coagulation and anticoagulation systems: in the spring, there was an increase in blood coagulation activity displayed by growth of the concentration of fibrinogen and soluble fibrin and a reduction in the amount of the plasminogen activator. The authors suggest conducting preventive treatment of patients in the spring, the most unfavourable season in respect of the effect of the pathogenetic factors.

[Clinical aspects of the sick sinus syndrome].

Clinico-electrocardiographic studies were carried out in 74 patients with the sick sinus syndrome. The functional tests were used to evaluate the condition of the sinoauricular node (with physical exercise, and dosaged compression of the sinocarotid area). Five variants of the clinical course of the sick sinus syndrome have been distinguished: latent; manifested; the syndrome of bradycardia-tachycardia; the syndrome of sinus bradycardia-auricular bradyfibrillation; constant auricular fibrillation refractor to the treatment including electro-impulse therapy. The functional tests have revealed more pronounced shifts in the P--P interval of patients with the sick sinus syndrome as compared to those in healthy subjects.

[Importance of Innerfield's serum test in the diagnosis of prethrombotic and thrombotic states in various cardiovascular diseases].

To appraise the diagnostic significance of Innerfield's serum test, 40 patients with ischemic heart disease were examined; 18 of them had angina pectoris, 22 myocardial infarction, in the acute of subacute stage, 15 hypertensive disease, and 27 patients had rheumatic heart disease. It is shown that the blood fibrinolytic system was depressed in most patients. A shorter serum test time was characteristic of these diseases when their course was complicated by thromboembolism. With due consideration for the data on the state of the blood coagulation and anticoagulation systems, the serum test may be used for identifying the prethrombotic condition in patients with various cardiovascular diseases.

[Characteristics of the indicators of the blood coagulation and fibrinolysis systems in the pre-clinical stage of ischemic heart disease].

Signs of dysfunction of the coagulation system and fibrinolysis were determined in 45 healthy young individuals who had such risk factors in relation to ischemic heart disease as arterial hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, smoking, aggravated heredity, permanent emotional overstress, etc. These signs were manifested by a tendency to augmentation of blood coagulation and compensatory activation of fibrinolysis. Ischemic-type changes were detected on the ECG after a physical load. It is assumed that dysfunction of the coagulation system and fibrinolysis is an additional risk factor in relation to ischemic heart disease, while derangement of compensatory fibrinolysis tension with the subsequent tension of its components may lead to the development of coronary thrombosis.
