[The clinico-immunological characteristics of the course of recurrent aphthous stomatitis].

Clinical and laboratory examinations of 86 patients with relapsing aphthous stomatitis making use of a complex of clinical, immunological, cytochemical, and microbiological methods, helped specify the clinico-anamnestic features in the course of this disease. An immunobacterial concept of the pathogenesis of relapsing aphthous stomatitis has been formulated; according to this concept, the disease is initiated by disorders of T and B immunity system and nonspecific defense factors, leading to increase of the content and virulence of oral microflora, and thus stimulating the bacterial sensitization of the organism of patients with relapsing aphthous stomatitis.

[Complex prevention of suppurative complications of long surgical procedures using microsurgical technics].

The authors have demonstrated the efficacy of complex approach to the solution of the problem of postoperative infectious complications in prolonged surgical interventions with application of microsurgical technique in orthopaedic and traumatologic patients. A reduction in the course of prophylaxis with antibiotics in this category of the patients has been substantiated. The use of metabolite therapy in the course of presurgical preparation of the patients under the control of cytochemical investigations allows to carry on the surgery with a more favourable state of the macroorganism. The use of supersonic cavitation for antibacterial treatment of the operative wounds in prolonged interventions with application of microsurgical technique has no specific contraindications. The complex of these measures has allowed to reduce the rate of suppurations after prolonged surgical interventions with application of microsurgical technique from 23.01 to 8%.

[Formation and interrelationship of the activity of several dehydrogenases during rat development].

The specific and general enzymic activity of some dehydrogenases of the liver, kidneys, heart, thymus and spleen was studied on rats in early postnatal period. Some regularities of the development of enzymes under study were established: ergontic correlations of the "maturing" enzymic organ systems and the coordination of the enzymic status of organs and the lymphocytes circulating in the blood. It may be supposed that the lymphocyte is a carrier of information about formation of metabolic processes of the developing organism. The mechanisms of appearance of coordination of the enzymic activity are discussed.

Age Factors↗

[Modulation of energy metabolism of lymphocytes in children by natural physical factors].

The aim of this work is exploration of natural physical factors influencing change of age-dependent energy exchange parameters (e.g. activity of SDG) in healthy and premature children. 35 healthy and 35 premature children were investigated over 11 years from early antenatal and postnatal period. Cytochemical investigations were carried out 1-2 time a year until 6 years of age. Solar activity, geomagnetic excitability, air temperature and atmospheric pressure and its diurnal variation on index represented environmental factors. It is suggested that quiet magnetic field might be a predictor of higher level of SDG activity and vice versa. Higher activity of magnetic field leads to displacement of maximum-age of SDG activity to an earlier age. Lymphocytes react to magnetic storm in a phasic manner. Other physical environmental factors might have reciprocal effect so that some of them could negate the effect of others. If intrauterine development took place in a year of higher solar activity, early-development results. However, later development is characterized by lower level of SDG activity. On premature children, as well as in healthy subjects, the more influencing factors on energetic age-dependent parameters are geomagnetic field and variation of atmospheric SDG activity in healthy children is within normal range (and has a training effect), while in premature children depression of hydrogenase in the end stage.

[An experimental model of the vertical transmission of the Coxsackie-group enteroviruses and its use in developing methods to prevent congenital coxsackievirus infection].

An experimental model of vertical transmission of Coxsackie group enteroviruses was developed in BALB/c mice the first generation of which was infected with Coxsackie A18 virus in the neonatal period. Persistence of the virus was demonstrated in all females of the first generation tested and in 90.9% to 100% of the animals of the next two generations. Cytochemical analysis of the enzyme status of lymphocytes revealed reliable relationship between the depression of energetic metabolism enzymes and the activity of virus amplification in the animals under study. The correction of aerobic respiration in pregnant females by administration of a complex of energy metabolism substrates and cofactors was accompanied by a significant reduction of the virus infection activity in the females and their offsprings as well as by prevention of transplacental infection in some litters. The experimental model of vertical transmission of enteroviruses is proposed for use in the development of methods for prevention of congenital Coxsackie virus infection.
