In experiments with mice three kinds of dose dependence of radioprotection efficiency were shown for different radioprotectors. Maximum protection was revealed in the ranges of LD70-100/30 for naphthyzin and cystamine, LD50-70/30 for thymogen and lymphokinin, LD70/30 for prodigiosan and polyribonate. The necessity of research of preparations which increase radioresistance in the wide range of doses is pointed. The problem of improved criteria for radioprotector selection is discussed.
The experiments on mice exposed to radiation (6.5 Gy, LD 80/30) discovered that human recombinant interleukin-1 beta after administration on postradiation hour 1-3 increased the animals' survival by 40-70%. Interleukin-1 beta reduced leukopenia and enhanced the recovery of bone marrow cell elements. The use of the preparation as an early pathogenetic treatment of irradiation damage holds promise.

In experiments with dogs (fractionated y-irradiation, accumulated dose 1Gy) as well as in clinical testing of the group of men, recieved 0,25 Gy being engaged in the Chernobyl NPS disaster repairment, the positive influence of riboxin (purine nucleoside) course treatment on parameters of peripheral blood and non-specific resistance system has bee n shown.
The authors offer a modification of the nephelometric method for clinical immunology laboratory to be used for measuring proteins (albumin, C3-complement, IgG, IgA, IgM, and alpha 2-macroglobulin) in human biological fluids. The original method making use of only Russian-made reagents and equipment has been used on a full scale for measuring the proteins in the blood serum, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, and saliva of normal subjects. The sensitivity and specificity of the method depend predominantly on the physicochemical parameters of the study.
A new criterion for the quantitative estimation of a radioprotective effect (radioprotector efficiency) is suggested. This is an integral index of protection. Biologically, this is an estimation of a proportion of animals survived, the survival rate in the experimental and control groups of exposed objects in the studied dose range. The methods of assessing the criterion, and its advantages over the commonly used dose reduction factor (DRF) are described. The efficiency of Cystamine, Naphthysin, Indralin, Thymogen, Lymphokinin, Prodigiosan, and Polyribonate are considered using the suggested criterion. A new method of a comparative estimation of the radioprotective effect is suggested.
Experimentally, with the use of mathematical modeling, a radioprotective effect and optimum usage of alpha-adrenomimetic Gutron was shown on CBA male-mice exposed to radiation. Injections of 1 to 5 mg/kg Gutron to the mice 10 to 40 min and 1 to 4 h before the irradiation with the doses of 6 to 7.5 Gy ensured the survival rates of the exposed animals with the protection coefficient s of 0.6 to 0.7 and 0.4, respectively.
