[Effect of strychnine and picrotoxin on the development of habituation in the visceral analyzer].

Effects of strychnine and picrotoxin on habituation of cortical potentials evoked by repeated stimulation of the splanchnic nerve were studied in anesthetized and immobilized cats. I. v. administration of strychnine (o.1 mg/kg) or picrotoxin (0.4 mg/kg) did not alter the decrement in evoked potentials. Larger doses of strychnine (0.3 or 0.6 mg/kg) and picrotoxin (0.8 or 2.0 mg/kg) did not block the habituation effects either. Picrotoxin applied to 2nd somatosensory area of the cortex effected amplitude of the negative component of the evoked potentials. Possible mechanisms of the habituation process are discussed.

[Responses of small intestine tissue chemoreceptors to change in the pCO2, pH and (HCO3-) in perfusion solutions].

Perfusion of the small intestine of anesthetized cats with a solution having excessive CO2 and H+ concentration (pCO2 60 mm Hg; pH; 7.2; [HCO3-] 25 MM) produced a threshold reflex increase in the blood pressure. The subsequent increase of pCO2 to 380 mm Hg and decrease of pH to 6.4 evoked a gradual raise of the blood pressure (8.0+/-0.6 mm Hg) followed by the sharp increase of pressor reflexes amplitude within the range of pH 6.4--6.1. Tissue receptors were found to be essentially sensitive to solutions imitating metabolic acidosis (decrease of [HCO3-] within the physiological range of pH changes (pH 7.1--6.8). Solutions with pH 6.4--6.1 imitating respiratory acidosis (increase of pCO2) were more effective than those imitating metabolic acidosis. The possible role of interstitial pH changes in responses of the tissue chemoreceptors to CO2, is discussed.

[Afferent activity in the renal nerves of awake dogs treated with diuretics].

In alert dogs with electrodes implanted into the kidney nerves the afferent activity following the influence upon kidney receptors, was studied with the aid of lazix and mannitol administration against the background of the water-milk uptake. The water-milk uptake was followed by no significant changes of nervous activity. Metabolic disturbances due to lazix altered the kidney nerves activity. Acceleration of the kidney filtration due to mannitol was followed by a short-lasting unstable decrease in the afferent nerves activity.
