[Hemopoietic status of rats exposed to weightlessness].

This paper summarizes experimental data on the erythropoiesis of rats flown on Cosmos biosatellites for 18-22 days. The histogenesis of the hemopoietic tissue is investigated at the level of stem cells, dividing-maturing pool and mature blood cells (erythrocytes). In weightlessness inhibition of the erythropoiesis in various skeletal sites occurs. Flight data are compared with hemopoietic findings in hypokinetic rats. Possible mechanisms underlying red blood disorders in humans during space flight are discussed.

[Morphologic study of the hematopoietic organs of rats during hypokinesia].

During 60-day hypokinesia the hemopoietic system of rats developed important changes typical of the stress-state (atrophy of thymico-lymphatic system, lymphopenia and neutrophilosis) and hypokinesia per se (activation at the early stage and inhibition at the late stage of bone marrow erythropiesis, reduction of the rate of lympho- and myelopoiesis by the end of the experiment, emergence of pathologically changed megakaryocytes).

[Spin-labeling studies on interaction of phospholipase A2 from cobra poison with phospholipid membranes].

Phospholipase A2 interactions with phospholipid liposomes and vesicles were studied by using unhydrolysed spin-labeling 2-alkyl phosphatidylcholine. These interactions have polar nature. Phospholipase A2 hydrolyses only the neighbouring phospholipid monolayer. The hydrophobic layer of liposomes is not permeable for the enzyme. Phospholipase A2 are attached to lysophosphatidylcholine after hydrolysis and it stabilizes the structure of vesicles. The stabilizing effect of the enzyme makes the vesicles unpermeable for Na+, Cl-ions and protons. Moreover, the phospholipase A2 prevents the phospholipid exchange between the vesicles and their fusion.

[The characteristics of antioxidant action in the heart of old rats under stress].

The studies have demonstrated that the inhibitory effect of urea, peroxidase, catalase, its combination with superoxide dismutase on HADPH-dependent lipid peroxidation in the old rat heart is higher than that in young animals. Exposure of young rats to stress is followed by enhanced antioxidative effects of all the parameters under study. This effect is not found in the old animals exposed to stress.

[State of induced lipid peroxidation in the heart of mature and aged rats under stress].

The investigations conducted have shown that in the myocardium of aged rats the intensity of lipid peroxidation prevails over its value in young animals. This leads to formation of the age-related peculiarities of the lipid peroxidation response to the action of stressor factors and to the change of the antioxidants' effect on induced lipid peroxidation reactions in the heart.

[Mouse hematopoietic organs in hypokinesia].

The capacity of hemopoietic cells for colony-formation and the pattern of their differentiation during hypokinesia were studied. The absolute count of colony-forming units (CFU) decreased exponentially during 3 to 30 days. Bone marrow showed a change in the total cell count and a wave-like change in the absolute and relative count of CFU with a maximum on the 1st-3rd and 15th-45th days. Differentiating potentialities of CFU from the spleen and bone marrow were not altered towards erythro-, myelo- and thrombopoiesis. The cell structure of the peripheral blood changed, displaying lymphopenia, transient neutrophil leukocytosis, increase in the percentage content of large lymphocytes and stress-lymphocytes.
