[Cytotolerance for Nimetic Grip (ESPE), a material used for fixation of dental bridge plates].

Providing in vitro experimentation on cells, the authors monitor general biologic effects of the fixation composite Nimetic Grip (ESPE). Cytotoxicity of three components of supplied package is tested with both dynamic identification of contact cytotoxicity and macro contact test. Those concerned are composite cements. Nimetic Grip Opak and Transparent as well as Nimetic Bond adhesive varnish. All the observed materials were shown to induce morphologic changes on HEp-2 cells.

Biocompatible Materials

[Cell and cell organelle changes after the effect of calcium hydroxide].

The changes of cells cultured in vitro after Calxyd effect which basical component is calcium hydroxide (Ca[OH]2) are described. The ingredient evoked cytoplasmic membrane changes, forming of pathological pseudopodies, the changes of nuclei and nucleoli. Fast start and development of pathological cell changes leading to their death in a short time and forming of sharply separated line between the damaged intact cells are characteristics for the effect of calcium hydroxide.

Calcium Hydroxide

[Reaction of HeLa cells to the presence of Evicrol varnish studied by electron microscopy].

The electron-microscopical changes of cells produced by underlying Evicrol varnish are described. The latter is used in preventive stomatology to underlay fillers, those from composite materials, especially. It is designed to prevent the pulp damage through these materials. The changes of in vitro cultivated cells have in contrast been confirmed with previous experimentation showing that the varnish itself causes toxicity for living cells and therefore is not convenient to undercoat cavities in the proximity of pulps.

Dental Materials

[The effect of Aspan on live cells in vitro].

Cytotoxicity of an experimental vitrioionomeric cement Aspan has been proved on the basis of morphological reaction of cells cultivated in vitro. There was no decrease in toxic action of Aspan when recovered with Silfolit and Evicrol varnishes.

Dental Cements

[The effect of the monomer HEMA (2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate) on cells cultured in vitro].

Techniques of dynamical observation of biotolerance as well as percentual mitotic determination have been applied to study the cytotolerance of HEMA monomer on the human in vitro cells. On these conditions, such a monomer was stated to show the complete cytotolerance concentrated as 1:1000, almost complete cytotolerance when diluted as 1:500, and the expressed toxicity when concentrated as 1:100, that is in the concentration which is tolerated well on implantation animal experiments. Of more sensitivity is therefore the test which uses the in vitro cultivated cells as an experimental object.

Cells, Cultured

[Cytologic tolerance of bioglass and bioceramic materials in cells cultured in vitro].

Cytotolerance of several implantative materials has been tested on the in vitro cells. The majority of mentioned materials showed inertion without influencing cells contacting them. They were saphir, "CH" ceramic and bioactive glass-ceramic "BAS". In contrast, the sample 5 of bioglass and partly "M" ceramic sample displayed interaction with cells. On macrocontact observation of cytotolerance, the area has been stated to create around samples in which strongly degenerated and dead were rarely scattered. These substances showed interactions with cells what is confirmed by clinical observation as well.

Biocompatible Materials

[Investigations of cytotoxicity of Heliosit depending on its polymerizing in vitro].

In this paper the authors describe the changing in cell culture of epithelioid cells of a permanent HEp-2-line basing on the one component composite Heliosit. Following the experiences with farmer test the authors mean that contact and local toxicity are not so heavy but depending from the polymerization of the materials. Warning is the arretation of some phases in cell cyclus and the changing of epithelioid cells in fibroblastoid cells. May it is a cell transformation necessary to examine in special tests.

Cell Transformation, Neoplastic

[Reaction of cells cultured in vitro on 2 self-polymerizing adhesives].

Cytopathological changes due to self-polymerizing enamel adhesives Evikrol Bond and Concise Enamel Bond were studied. Both the materials were toxic for in vitro cells. They caused death of the cells and degenerative changes appeared in some organelles including the cell membrane. This resulted in bad adhesion of the cells to the substrate. Extractions of these adhesives caused also changes in the karyoplasm. The observed change of epithelioid HEp-2 permanent line cells into fibroblastoid cells requires, however, further verification by means of special tests.

Acrylic Resins

[Cytotolerance of bioceramics in cell culture studies].

Biological effects of ceramic implant material of Czechoslovak make prepared on the basis of alumina were studied here. The material was proved to be quite inert both toward epithelioid Hep-2 cells and toward L-line fibroblastoid cells in experiments with nonspecific application, i.e., in cell cultures.
