[Short-term results of radical surgeries for non-small cell cancer of the lung].

The results of radical surgical treatment of 358 patients with NSCCL were analyzed. Majority of patients were men (84.6%) and persons older 60 years -- 239 (66.8%) patients. Central cancer was diagnosed in 164 (45,8%) patients, peripheral -- in 194 (54.2%). There were 137 (38.3%) pneumonectomies, 184 (51.4%) lobectomies; 149 (41.6%) surgeries were combined. Complications after radical surgeries were seen in 92 (25.7%) of 358 patients, including 18 (5.0%) patients with < > complications and 74 (21%) patients with < > ones. Complications were seen more often in patients over 60 years and occurred less frequently after segmentectomy (7 patients). Lethality was 5.0% (18 patients). Respiratory complications (7 cases) and pulmonary embolism (5 patients) were the main causes of lethal outcome.

[Results of surgical treatment of lung cancer in patients over 70 years old].

Results of surgical treatment of 345 patients (210 men--61%; 135 women--39%) over 70 years with non-small-cell lung cancer were analyzed. Central lung cancer was diagnosed in 141 (40.9%), peripheral--in 204 (59.1%) patients. Squamous cell cancer was seen in 233 (67.3%), glandular--in 67 (19.4%), dimorphic--in 22 (6.5%), large-cell--in 23 (6.8%) patients. Stage I of the disease was diagnosed in 121 (35.1%); stage II--in 49 (14.1%); stage III--in 175 (50.8%) patients. Rate of postoperative complications in the study group was 27.8%, lethality--6.4%. The highest lethality was after combined pneumonectomy. The most frequent postoperative complications were pneumonia (7.5%), arrhythmia (10.1%), pulmonary-heart insufficiency (4.9%). Five-year survival after radical surgery in patients over 70 years with lung cancer was 49%, in patients with stage I of the disease this parameter was the highest--71.4%.

[External respiration function in patients with exudative pleurisy before and after video-thoracoscopic operations].

57 patients with exudative pleurisy were observed. Function of external respiration was examined with traditional spirometry and a new method--distant spirometry. Function of cardio-vascular system was examined with electrocardiography and echocardiography. The new method of monitoring permits to perform repeated and daily examinations of external respiration function. The method is highly informative, sabe, physiological, permits to evaluate general and isolated ventilation of the lungs simultaneously, and demonstrates dynamics of exudate accumulation that may help in choice of treatment policy.

[Correction of asthenovegetative disorders in the postoperative period in pulmonary tuberculosis patients].

UNLABELLED: 58 patients with asthenia were observed during postoperative period after surgery treatment of tuberculosis. All of the patients were divided into two groups: 34 patients taking anti tuberculosis drugs and Stimol, and 24 patients taking only anti tuberculosis drugs. Following method where used to appreciate states of the patients: scales of Symptoms Check List--90, acid-base and gas state of blood, EKG, ECHOKG, KIG, Contactles Spirometry. RESULTS: Treatment with using of Stimol leads to quicker regress of asthenia to improvement in both cardiovascular and respiratory systems and normalization of gas state of blood. Effect of this medicine can be connected with positive influence on cardiac and respiratory functions of the body due to normalization vegetative prevision and improvement of metabolism in cells of drain and cardiomyocyties.

[Videothoracoscopy in diagnosing and treating exudative pleuritis].

Telethoracoscopy (TT) was performed in 76 patients with exudative pleurisy of unclear etiology. A correct diagnosis was made in all (100%) cases. Tuberculosis was detected in 41 (54%) patients. In this group of patients, the results were analyzed by taking into account the duration of disease, the nature of an operation, and morphological findings. In tuberculous pleurisy, TT may be conducted at any time; however, it is most effective when an acute period subsides and an exudate begins forming. At this time (2-3 months after the onset of the disease), surgery is not diagnostic, but also remedial as sanitation of the pleural cavity with partial pleurectomy.

[External respiratory function in patients before and after saving lung resections].

External respiratory function (ERF) was studied in 129 patients with restrictive pulmonary processes (tuberculomas, infiltrative and cavernous tuberculosis) before and after surgery. All the patients underwent saving lung resections. Changes in ERF were examined by conventional and the new method telespirography. This technique detects general and individual pulmonary ventilation disorders, which underlie criteria for assessing whether patients with pulmonary tuberculosis can be operated on. The authors show that the outcomes of surgical treatment are determined by the baseline status of the respiratory apparatus generally and each lung specifically. Distinctive features of complicated and uncomplicated postoperative periods are identified. The benefits of the new method are demonstrated.

[New approaches to the evaluation of pulmonary circulation in surgical patients with tuberculosis].

Prior to and following surgery, 70 patients were examined for pulmonary tuberculosis who were divided into 2 groups: 1) 27 patients with limited processes (tuberculomas, infiltrating, cavernous tuberculosis in 1-2 segments) and 2) 43 patients with disseminated tuberculosis in 4 lobes or more. A comprehensive examination including studies of pulmonary circulation by radiotracer techniques (scanning, scintigraphy) and an original contactless study of pulmonary circulation (CSPC). There was a correlation between the results obtained by the two methods. The findings indicate a high validity of CSPC6 which makes it possible to recommend it as a screening technique for detection of pulmonary circulatory disorders.

[Tele-electrometry of the respiratory musculature in healthy subjects and patients with obstructive ling diseases].

Respiratory muscles fatigue is a common symptom typical for chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. The authors were the first to use an original diagnostic system of distant electrometry "Briz-1" and examination techniques. The principle of the diagnostic system operation is based on a contactless measurement of magnitudes of trunk surface excursions during respiratory movements with the help of a system of electromagnetic field transducers located near the trunk. The electromagnetic field is induced by a special generator. Examination included 75 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and 21 healthy volunteers (the norm has been elaborated). The results obtained on the diagnostic system were compared with the clinico-functional studies. The method is simple, harmless, easy for patients in terms of load, informative and allows numerous measurements. Diagnostic criteria of obstructive pulmonary diseases and diaphragm fatigue have been developed.

[Physiotherapy in combined treatment of patients with genital tuberculosis].

One hundred and thirty six women with genital tuberculosis received combined antibacterial treatment (ABT) with adjuvant physiotherapy. The patients were divided into three groups: patients of group 1 had active genital tuberculosis treated with ABT plus electrophoresis of 3% sodium thiosulphate, group 2 had chronic tuberculous process treated with ABT plus ultrasound hydrocortisone therapy, group 3 received ABT alone. The findings demonstrate that noticeable improvement and reduction of treatment duration were observed in groups 1 and 2.
