169 skulls were examined in adults and 58 in children to study variability of parameters and shape of anterior trabecular (sphenoethmoidal) and posterior parachordal (auriculo-occipital) regions of human skull, the border between which is drawn through openings of trigeminal nerve branches. Spatial coordinates of these foramina and anterior and posterior points of trabecular and parachordal regions were obtained using stereocraniobasiometer. The maps of all the regions were plotted. Age, sex, individual and bilateral variability of these structures was examined. The point, located in medial sagittal projection on the line that unites right and left round openings is of minimal variability and can be used as a central one in comparative cranium examination.
The classification suggested represents an attempt to unite embryological, topographical, and morphological approaches aimed to achieve a more complete review both of abnormalities and anatomical variants of cranium. 9 teratological groups are distinguished in it.

Using the material of 222 skulls from the craniological collection, correlative connections between dimensions and form of the skull base and fornix have been investigated. In accordance with the value of the wide-long parameter of the base, three forms of the skull are determined: dolichobasilar, mesobasilar and brachibasilar.
In 130 cerebral preparations of children and mature persons external structure and dimensions of the temporal operculum, pertaining to the posterior speech cerebral area, have been studied. A great variability in the operculum form, in the number of tertial sulci situating on it, in its linear dimensions and superficial area has been stated. Final dimensions of the temporal operculum are formed in early childhood and have no sex differences. During all age periods, there is a pronounced left-sided tendency in dimensional asymmetry of the temporal operculum dimensions; their predominance in the left side is noticed in more than 70%. No correlation between the operculum surface and the brain mass is revealed, as well as between its surface and the surface of transversal temporal gyri. The left-sided predominance in the length of the lateral sulcus is observed nearly as often as the left-sided prevalence of the temporal operculum, but in a number of cases their asymmetry has an opposite direction. This should be taken into consideration at diagnosing the dominant hemisphere by means of the intravital arteriography and when certain neurosurgical interventions are performed.

In 70 cadavers of the persons at the age of 15-92 external and internal diameters and radiuses, wall thickness, cross section area of the pulmonary stem and the left pulmonary arteries were measured. Increase of all the parameters with age was stated. For each size regressing equations were introduced. By means of dispersion analysis the effect of the age factor on the diameters and thickness of the vessel walls was determined. Radius/cross section relations of the pulmonary stem and those of both pulmonary arteries were studied. Indices of the relative vessel wall thickness were calculated and their comparison with the arteries of the systemic circulation was done.

The authors examined 414 brain preparations of males and females to study the correlation of the size of the circulus arteriosus cerebri (CAC) with the brain mass (BM) and the size of the skull, and the correlation between the area of the cross-section of the lumen (CSL) of arteries contributing to the formation of the circulus arteriosus, as well as that of the vertebral and basilar arteries with the BM. The age-specific changes of the diameters of the cerebral arteries and the variability of their parameters in CAC anomalies were studied. The CAS cross-section is larger in males than in females. The size of the CAS does not correlate with the BM. Direct correlative relations between CSL of the cerebral vessels and the BM were revealed. The diameter of the cerebral vessels is larger in males than in females. The diameter of all arteries increases from the first period of maturity to elderly age, in some arteries the process is irregular. CAC asymmetry is most marked when one of the posterior cerebral arteries arises from the internal carotid artery.
General carotid arteries were studied in 51 corpses of foetuses and newborns with gestational ages ranging from 28 to 40 weeks. The entire material was divided into 3 groups: 1) 28-32 weeks, 2) 33-36 weeks, 3) 37-40 weeks. The length of the cervical region as well as external diameter of the artery, thickness of the wall and its certain layers, number of elastic membrane rows and connective tissue fibres architectonics were studied. General strength, its limits, maximum relative deformation and arterial wall Jung module were investigated at longitudinal extension in tension machine. All the arterial morphological and strength characteristics increase in proportion with gestation age but maximum accretion takes place by the end of the last month of intrauterine development. In all age groups vascular wall extensibility is almost equal. Arterial wall has an elongation reserve due to the wavy course of elastic fibres in tunica media.
