[A comparative analysis of the action of zootoxins on the isolated heart].

A comparative analysis of cardiotropic activity of toxins has been studied in experiments on isolated heart of the poisonous animals from different systematic groups living on the territory of the USSR: reptiles (the venom of cobra, Vipera lebetina, Ancistrodon blomhoffi), amphibian (the venom of Bufo, Bombina, salamander), arachnids (the venom of Apis, Scolopendra, scorpion). The specific cardiotropic activity of the scorpion and Bufo venom has been discovered. The mechanisms of the cardiostimulative activity of scorpion venom have been found to be due to the activation of cellular adrenoreactive structures, and the Bufo venom to the activation of the intracellular calcium. The prospects of zootoxins using in cardiology for development of cardiotonic drugs and modelling the pathologic states in blood circulation system is substantiated.

[Possibility of using the BI-3 jet injector for gamma globulin administration].

The results of weighing glass flasks before and after "shooting" preparations varying in viscosity into these flasks from type BI-3 jet injectors indicated that the ejected dose of gamma globulin corresponded to the preset value. Studies carried out by means of radioisotyope technique with the use of Tc99m showed that the intramuscular injection of gamma globulin with type BI-3 jet injector resulted in 75% of the preset dose penetrating the body. For this reason in mass vaccination against Botkin's disease the dose of the preparation in the injector should be increased by 1/3.

[Radionuclide methods of measuring mineral contents in the bone tissue].

Over the recent 10-15 years, osseous densitometers intended for measuring the content of minerals in osseous tissue have become very popular abroad. To record statistically significant changes in an osseous mineral, these devices should have reproducibility (variation rate) exceeding 2%. Mono- and biphoton densitometers may be distinguished by the type of the applied radionuclide. Biphoton densitometers are advantageous since they permit examining any part of the skeletal system of the patient or the whole body. Biphoton absorptiometry is based on measuring the transition of photons of two energies via the medium that largely consists of the two materials bone and soft tissue. The authors describe the results of examining parts of the peripheral skeleton with the aid a laboratory sample of a biphoton osseous densitometer for the peripheral skeleton.

[Scintigraphic systems and their evaluation using computers].

A comparative characteristics of modern scintillation chambers manufactured by different firms is given. Basic parameters of the chambers and the methods of their appraisal effected by using computer technique are considered and results obtained by comparing major parameters of three chamber models ("Fo-Gamma III HP", "Fo-Gamma LFOV" and "Daina-2C") through experimental procedures by following a chosen method are presented. The authors come to the conclusion that the use of computer technique tends to greatly facilitate the procedure of the chambers' control and increases the significance and reliability of the scintigraphic findings.
