[The perspectives of improvement of the postgraduation education of specialists working in military forensic-and-medical organizations].

The problem of work organization improvement of military forensic examination concerning the system of preparing specialists for forensic-and-medical organizations of the Russian Ministry of Defense is investigated in the article. The directions of development of the postgraduation education system for specialists in military forensic examination organizations as well as the main targets of the forensic medicine faculty in this sphere are reflected.

[Medicolegal analysis of ARD mass cases occurred in servicemen].

The article presents the analysis of causes and outcomes of ARD and pneumonia incidence among the servicemen in one of the military units during the period 2002-2003. 95 forensic medical examinations were analyzed. The terms of disease occurrence, complications, unfavorable outcomes are presented. The defects in medical care rendering are shown. The recommendations on prophylaxis of such cases are shown.

[Expert work during technogenic extreme situations (Report II)].

The article is devoted to the organizational principles of work of expert institutions and its subdivisions with reference to technogenic catastrophes with mass victims. The problems of interactions of representatives from different structures and departments made busy with the work at the place of event are discussed in terms of forensic medicine. Special attention is paid to the problems of expert institution readiness for work under conditions of extreme situations depending on the medical-and-tactical characteristics of damage focus.

[Guarding the interests of justice].

The article is devoted to the history of creation and formation of forensic medical examination in the Red Army. The difficulty in formation and topical of activity of army, front and district forensic medical laboratories are emphasized. The orderly structure of expert institutions created during the years of the Great Patriotic War allowed to lay the scientific and methodical foundation of activity of the forensic medical examination in the Armed Forces. Special contribution into creation and organization of military expert service was made by Mickail Ivanovitch Avdeyev--the chief expert of the Red Army. The peculiarities of expert activity and its significance both during the years of the Great Patriotic War and today in difficult conditions of the Russian Federation Armed Forces reformation are discussed in terms of the history.

[Scientific investigations conducted in forensic medical examination].

The authors discuss the conceptual problems connected with necessity to reform the research activities in the RF MD expert institutions within the "Program of development of RF MD forensic medical examination for the period of 2001-2005", the character of its main directions. The complex of concrete research and experimental works is described.

[Errors in medical care rendered by military treatment and prevention institutions (according to the data of forensic medical expertise].

The authors discuss one of the important aspects of military medicolegal laboratory activities connected with the quality control of medical care rendered in the military treatment-and-prophylactic institutions in the nineties of the XX century. The example of medical care defects (MCD) permitted to reveal their nature, causes and sites of origin at pre-hospital (PHS) and hospital (HS) stages. Despite some decrease in the total number of MCD revealed HS defects prevail (more than 75%); the organizational defects at PHS and diagnostic defects at HS are predominant. The main MCD causes are inadequate qualification of medical workers, defects in organization of treatment-and-diagnostic process and inadequate examination of patients.

[Toxicomania in servicemen].

The authors substantiate the urgency of toxicomania among the servicemen. The circumstances of toxicomania, its morphological manifestations, toxic agents used by the toxic substance addicts were analyzed using the materials of 98 observations from medicolegal practice with lethal outcome. The measures to prevent and diagnose the toxicomania are proposed.

[Identification of fragmented bodies of the killed from group burials].

The article deals with the peculiarities of person identification of the great number of unidentified bodies subjected to considerable destruction and fragmentation and of the remains from the group burial places. The main principles of organization and conduction of objects' identification are formulated; the basic algorithm of these investigations is expounded. The authors substantiate the necessity of creation of specialized computer complex intended for identification of the fragmented bodies in the cases of their mass delivery.

[Medico-legal analysis of violent death in navy servicemen].

On the model of analysis of violent death in the Armed Forces and the Navy during the period of 1975-2000 one of the aspects of military medico-legal laboratory (MLL) activity is shown. The authors give the analysis of dynamics of accidents, murders and suicides n the Navy compared with the data obtained in the Armed Forces. The attention is concentrated on the situation arising in the AF and Navy where the crime rate is rather high as the cases of murders and suicides have increased and especially during the last years.
