[A clinical evaluation of the current methods for cardiac pacing electrostimulation].

A comparative analysis was done of the results of 250 operations--implantations of the different systems of cardiac pacing. Use was made of ventricular pacing (VVI), atrial pacing (AAI), different modes of dual chamber pacing (VDD, DVI, DDD), and of rate responsive pacing (Activitrax, Sensolog, Meta-MV). Indications and contraindications for use of pacemakers of different types are discussed as are potential complications consequent on the use of different modes of cardiac pacing.

[Various methods of the practical evaluation of functional possibilities of implanted synchronous cardiostimulators].

Some clinical device for the assessment of the sensitivity of the implanted demand-type cardiostimulator to bioelectric potentials are described. A relationship is demonstrated between the perception of bioelectric noise (muscular potentials) and sensitivity of the cardiostimulator.

[Pneumatic medical splints made of polymeric materials for immobilizing the extremities].

For rendering temporary medical aid in various kinds of traumas pneumatic medical splints are of an ever wider use. These are inflated double-layer air-tight filmy chamber-like sheathes forming a slip-cover around injured limbs of the victims, or around their cervical vertebrae. A review of the existing foreign and Soviet-made specimens of the splints has shown that, as regards their functional purpose and film material employed, they form several types, including uni- or multisectional, shaped, split and solid, reinforced and non-reinforced, etc. The pneumatic splints have a number of advantages, the one of them being the fact that can be quickly used for rendering help or self-help in the field.

[Possibility of using DST-30 thermoelastoplast in blood transfusion systems].

Investigating possible application of the DCT-30 thermoelastoplastic shows advantages of some physico-technical properties of this product based on natural caoutchouc and latex by comparison with base-rubber onene. It justifies recommending the former for making injection tubes in the blood transfusion systems.
