[Enterosorption in chronic enterocolitis].

Polyfepan, a sorbent, included in the complex of therapeutic measures for the patients with exacerbations of chronic enterocolitis, has considerably reduced the terms necessary to arrest the major symptoms of the condition vs. the reference group. The effect was the most manifest when the sorbent was combined with polyenzyme drugs. Laboratory tests and rat experiments have helped validate polyfepan action as the agent binding microorganisms and their toxins on its surface and fixing the enzyme vector at the site of the pathologic process.

[Effect of the characteristics of various alimentary stimuli and changes in the pH of the duodenal content on the acid-forming function of the stomach].

In chronic experiments on dogs the effect of introduction of a non-buffered acid gastric juice into the duodenum or/and of drawing outside the bile via a fistula in the common bile duct on theproduction of hydrochloric acid in innervated ventricles (pouches) was studied. The induced pH shifts in the duodenum were checked every 15 minutes in the duodenal chyme samples. In tests involving meat feeding the reduced pH of the duodenal contents acted not only as an inhibitor of the gastric secretion, but much more as its stimulator. Infusion of the juice into the duodenum, or/and elimination of the bile tended to drastically reduce the inhibitory effect of the fat on the acid-formation in the stomach, this being due to inactivation of the pancreated lipase with HCl and to a defective micellar stage of the intraintestinal transformation of fat. This gives ground to assume that the entrance of acid non-buffered gastric juice into the intestine during transtubal feeding of patients with peptic ulcer is counter-productive in this method of treatment. The application of hyposecretory agents concurrent with the tubal feeding is warranted.

[The effect of diet with an increased amount of tyrosine on reparative processes in the duodenum].

It has been shown that the development of destructive lesions of the duodenal wall induced by stress action on the body of the experimental animal is attended by a decrease of the content of creatine phosphate and noradrenaline in homogenate of the duodenal tissue. The use of tyrosine, a precursor of catecholamine biosynthesis, both as a pharmacologic agent and as a component of rich in this amino-acid product-dried milk, resulted in normalization of the biochemical parameters studied and in significant diminution of destructive lesions of the duodenal wall.

Animals

[Secretion of proteolytic enzymes following administration of nutrients into the duodenum and jejunum].

Infusion of nutrient fluids into the small intestine of dogs provoked the appearance of Pavlov's pouch juice displaying different proteolytic activity. The quantity of the juice was smaller with drop than with jet infusion. The total secretion of enzymes was more abundant in case of drip intraduodenal infusions of a milk and cream mixture, milk, aminocrovine as compared with its average level following introduction of 10 and 20 per cent solutions of sugar, lipomaize, emulsions prepared of dry dairy products and vegetable oil. The infusions into the duodenum and jejunum was followed by secretion of substantial amounts of the pancreatic juice displaying high activity of trypsin, close to that appearing in response to feeding on meat. The concentration of proteases in the intestinal chyme proved then sufficiently high.
