[The calculation and regulation of dust exposure doses to decrease the level of occupational diseases of dust etiology].

One of the real ways to reduce occupational diseases caused by dust is to cut the duration of contact with dust. The studies helped to suggest a method calculating occupational risk correlated to dust content of the air. The authors evaluated the duration of contact with dust so as to reduce occupational risk to the minimum. Those measures appeared to lower but not eliminate the occupational risk.

[Means for decreasing the incidence of postoperative tubular necrosis in kidney transplants].

An analysis of the work on transplanting 264 cadaver kidneys has shown a considerable decrease of delayed functions of the transplants due to an adequate anti-ischemic defense in the donor's organism and during operation in the recipient's organism. An exact scheme of medicamentous management of the potential donors and the corresponding transfusion therapy during transplantation of the kidney has reduced the percentage of delayed functions in renal transplants from 54.4 to 25.8%.

[Treatment of gastrointestinal hemorrhage in patients following kidney transplant].

In 179 patients there were 218 operations of transplantation of the cadaveric kidney. Gastro-intestinal hemorrhages were found to develop in 16 of them (8.9%) at different terms after operations. Four patients were reoperated, 3 of them died. Twelve patients were treated by conservative methods. Eight patients survived. The transplant was functioning in 6 of them. Analysis of the material showed the conservative treatment to be the method of choice in gastrointestinal hemorrhages in the posttransplantation period. In such cases the transplant function should be given up for the sake of the patient's life. Before transplantation it is necessary to select a group of "high risk" patients. Part of them should be treated by hemodialysis only.

[Relation of the survival of kidney transplants to their initial functional integrity].

The influence of the initial functional capacity of renal transplants on the term of their survival was studied in 107 patients who were subjected to 118 transplantations of cadaveric kidneys. If the transplant function was restored within the first days after the operation 61% of the transplants were functioning during a year. In cases with a delayed function resulting from acute insufficiency of the transplanted kidney the good functioning was observed in 28% of all the transplants. The data obtained show the importance of further studies of the ways of the amendment of the quality of kidney transplants.

[Contralateral donor kidney study for predicting the fate of transplants in the recipient body].

An analysis of clinico--laboratory findings concerning functional condition of cadaver donor kidneys in the recipient's organism and morphological changes in 12 contralateral donor kidneys is set forth in the article. It has been found that in a cadaver donor kidney an impairment or an arrest of the graft function may be due to various pathological processes present in the donor intravitally.
