[Primary cutaneous granulomatous alternariosis].

We report on a case of primary cutaneous granulomatous alternariosis on the forearm of a 65-year-old man who is otherwise in a good health. Histological examination revealed a predominantly histiocytic granuloma with numerous large cells containing fragments of fungi. The granuloma contained septate fungal hyphae and macroconidiospores. By means of macro- and micro-cultures the fungus was identified as an Alternaria species.

[Local cutaneous amyloidoses. Report of 3 cases with lichen amyloidosus and 2 cases with nodular amyloidosis].

We report on the clinical and histological features of lichen amyloidosus (3 cases) as well as localized nodular amyloidosis (2 cases: a man and a woman). Regarding lichen amyloidosus, our morphological and immunohistochemical findings suggest that amyloid is derived from keratinocytes. In nodular amyloidosis, the origin of amyloid may possibly be connected with plasma cells.

[Disseminated neuroendocrine cancers of the skin--a cutaneous merkeliomatosis. Report of 2 cases].

Two nearly identical cases with about 100 multicentric disseminated neuroendocrine carcinomas of the skin are presented. In the Merkel cell tumors a for epithelial cells specific antigen (MAM-6) was found by immunohistochemical methods. Only in one patient generalized metastases arose after a four year course of the disease. The other patient committed suicide after a three year course of the disease. At autopsy no metastases were seen. We assume these diseases to be a systemic proliferation of malignant neuroendocrine differentiated epithelial cells, for which the term "cutaneous Merkeliomatosis" is proposed.

Aged

[HPV-20-induced epidermodysplasia verruciformis].

A 58-year-old man is presented who has suffered from epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) for 11 years. The lesions on the distal extremities are similar to verruca plana; those on the trunk and upper arms consist of red slightly squamous plaques. No malignant tumours have been observed so far. Only human papilloma virus (HPV), type 20, was found in all lesions. No cell mediated immune reaction disorders could be demonstrated. Virus identification is considered an important prognostic criterion.

Biopsy

[Keratosis lichenoides chronica].

We report on a case of keratosis lichenoides chronica. In our opinion, this very rare disease is an entity which might be classified as a primary inflammatory dermatosis.
