Penile ossification and acquired penile deviation.

We report on 3 patients with penile deviation during erection caused by ossification in the corpora cavernosa. In each case hard plaques could be palpated. These indurations were removed through a dorsal longitudinal incision. Histologically, solid bone was demonstrable. Two patients were able to resume normal sexual intercourse, but one became impotent following postoperative cavernitis. Penile ossification is rare in man, and its etiology is unknown. It bears no relationship to the os penis normally present in many other mammals. Diagnosis is best made by palpation and X-ray examination. The treatment of choice for symptomatic ossification is surgical excision.

[Comparison of the incidence and causes of micturition disorders in surgical and stress incontinent patients].

The urological status of 133 women undergoing non-urological surgery was investigated. 16 (12%) revealed stress urinary incontinence requiring treatment, in 10 (8%) stress urinary incontinence was corrected surgically earlier on, 7 (5%) suffered from UTI. The urological status of the remaining 100 women was compared to that of 200 women who underwent surgery for stress urinary incontinence investigated in a previous study. In both groups there were no significant differences in weight, coughing and hard work which are thought to be related to the origin of stress urinary incontinence. However in the urological group trauma by multiple child bearing was significant more common as well as a pathological micturition symptomatology. 33 of the surgical women occasionally observed minimal wetting without needing treatment. This disturbance might be called "stress urinary incontinence degree 0" because it cannot be placed in the classification according to Ingelman-Sundberg.

[Long-term results of the operative treatment of stress incontinence by anterior colporrhaphy with diaphragmplasty].

200 female patients who were subjected to colporrhaphia anterior with Kelly-Kennedy sutures between 1972 and 1978 in addition to a vaginal hysterectomy as therapy for SUI, returned a completed katamnestic questionnaire. By means of a five-step scale basing on a pattern by Heidenreich and the Ingelman-Sundberg incontinence scale based on incontinence-inducing situations, we achieved success (healing or markable improvement) just after the operation of 76% and 2-8 years after the operation of 70%. The reasons of failure are described in detail with suggestions to improve the rate of success.
