[Tocometry and rheobase measurement for cervical insufficiency--contribution to pathogenesis of premature birth (author's transl)].

Longitudinal studies were conducted into 316 high-risk pregnant women, between the 25th and 37th weeks of pregnancy. Insufficiency of the uterine cervix was recordable from 42 women, accounting for 13 per cent of all probands. Tocometry and rheobase measurement were undertaken, complementary to case history evaluation, to elucidate pathogenesis in 30 cases. The mean rheobase value recorded from the above patients was lower with significance than that obtained from a control group. Values were below the lower normal limit in 76 per cent of the cases. Subjective symptoms were recorded by systematic interviews from 26 per cent of the probands. The conclusion drawn from all studies and examinations is that in the majority of all cases cervical insufficiency has been the result of latent, discontinuous labour. Hence, repeated vaginal examination of high-risk pregnant women is considered to be a method for early diagnosis of imminent premature birth. Conclusions are suggested for the practitioner.

[Endourethral teflon injection for the treatment of urinary incontinence].

Teflon was injected endourethrally in order to treat incontinence of the urinary bladder in 3 patients, by means of an injector constructed by the author. 2 patients with urodynamically ascertained stress-incontinence were continent after the injection, whereas in one patient suffering from incontinence after radical prostatectomy the result is to be considered unsatisfactory. The author's experience corresponds to reports previously published.

Female↗

[Simultaneous, separate dialysis and ultrafiltration treatment in chronic kidney insufficiency].

It is reported on the combined simultaneous treatment with haemodialysis and controlled ultrafiltration. When the treatment is performed three times five hours a week this method shows a clear improvement of the general condition of the patient with -- normalisation of blood pressure, -- increase of haematocrit by removal of chronic hyperhydration, -- an essentially more insignificant transfusion frequency, -- balance of the products of lipometabolism, -- subsidence of the polyneuritic symptoms.

Blood Pressure↗

[Effectiveness of electrotherapy on the pressure of the urethral sphincter].

In 4 out of 6 patients the effectivity of the swelling current therapy on the profile of the urethra-pressure could be proved, in which case in the functional length of the urethra as well as in the maximum occlusion pressure of the urethra an increase was to be seen in contrast to the profile without swelling current.
