As has become evident from an interview of 161 patients affected by vaginal mycosis, the subjective experience of the disease must be seen in relation to the sociopsychological problems involved. Assumed negative reactions to the disease in the patient's social environment as well as fear and uncertainty regarding the aetiology of the disease make it hard for the patient to accept her disease, which would surely favour a steadfast therapeutic behaviour. For the gynaecologist the finding of a "vaginal mycosis" represents an unproblematic affection since it is easily controllable with antimycotics. The result of this different approach to the disease by doctor and patient is non-compliance of the vaginal mycosis patient: the patient goes to see her doctor soon after the appearance of complaints, but tends to terminate treatment prematurely when the subjective complaints subside, in order to avoid a further confrontation with the disease. An adequate, short-term treatment of vaginal mycosis, the course of which is supervised both clinically and microbiologically, thus appears to be the right way of solving the problem of non-compliance.
The clinical picture of candidal vaginitis was described for the first time in 1792. The connection with yeasts was already discovered in the 19th century. Not until the last 35 years, however, have the epidemiologic aspects of genital mycoses and the diagnostic and therapeutic principles been systematically developed. The rise in the incidence of the disease is due to several factors: the administration of corticosteroids, cystostatic agents, and oral contraceptives as well as socioeconomic circumstances. Two serious complications of vaginal yeast infection in pregnant women should be noted: the amniotic infection syndrome and neonatal contamination at the time of delivery. Vulvovaginitis is one of the most common genital diseases in childhood and adolescence. Mycoses can be diagnosed in daily gynecological practice by simple, reliable methods, but only culture on prepared media or by incubation of standardized plates can be depended upon to establish or rule out a mycosis. Effective antimycotics with a broad spectrum of activity have been developed in the last 15 years. We have been primarily concerned with clotrimazole because of our own investigations and impartial comparisons with other fungicidal drugs. Studies of patient compliance have shown that the diseased women accept short-term therapy most readily. However, appropriate control examinations are needed to document the results of treatment.
21 women with endometriosis were treated with Danazol, a derivative of 17-alpha-aethinyltestosteron in an open study over a period of 6 months. 20 women had previously undergone an operation because of the spread of endometriosis and its symptoms, in no case was it possible to remove the source of the endometriosis entirely. Histological confirmation of the endometriosis was ensured in each case. The initial dose was 600 mg Danazol daily. In 17 cases the dose was reduced in the course of 6 months and in 5 cases treatment had to be stopped between the 4th and 6th month. An improvement of the symptoms arising occurred under this treatment. Side-effects, observed during the treatment with Danazol, such as acne vulgaris, seborrhoea, flushes and headaches occurred in 6 respectively 5 cases (28,6 respectively 23,8%). Very occasionally pain in the joints was reported. Almost all women put on weight. The effect of this treatment on fat- and glycometabolism, on liver- and kidney function, on blood-coagulation as well as bloodpressure was examined, no divergence from the norm was observed.

This report deals with the morphological findings in the uterus of a 40 yrs old premenopausal woman, who complained of vaginal bleedings. Macroscopical and microscopical examinations revealed a hernia-like prolaps of a part of the wall of the tuba uterina across a hole in the myometrium of the fundus uteri. Vellios et al. (1973) describe a similar lesion but without paying attention to the prolaps of the tuba uterina into the cavum uteri. They interpretate the lesion as a papillary adenofibroma of the uterus and believe it to be the benign counterpart of the mixed mesodermal tumor of Müllerian duct origin. Based upon our histological findings we believe in a dysontogenetic or traumatic etiology of this rare lesion. The diagnosis of a papillary adenofibroma of the uterus therefore should only be made when the uterus and the adnexa in toto are available for histological examinations.

21 cases of "small for date" pregnancies were analysed. Serial ultrasonic tracings and determinations of total estrogen excretion in the 24-hour-urine and of serum HPL concentration were carried out. The fetal heart rate was measured by cardiotocogram. Retrospectively, the patients were divided into 3 groups according to birth weight. All patients were treated with a combination of Complamin, Calciparin and Partusisten. Fetal growth retardation could not be stopped by this treatment; there was, however, definite fetal weight gain following long term therapy. Results of HPL and total estrogen determinations were inconclusive; in most cases, however, a fall of concentrations was observed. Following long term therapy a rise in concentration up to almost normal values was seen. The positive effect of therapy was best shown by serial cardiotograms.
During a period of 28 months 983 gynaecological patients had major abdominal or vaginal operations under Heparin prophylaxis. In no case thrombosis or pulmonary embolism occurred. 5 hemorrhages required surgical revision and temporary reduction of Heparin dose. Global tests for preoperative diagnosis of hemostasis and for postoperative control of Heparin effect are discussed. Possible reactive fibrinolysis under Heparin administration, its complications and control are mentioned. Peri- and postoperative prophylaxis of thrombo-embolism with Heparin in daily dosages up to 20,00 I.U. seems well suitable.

During a period of 15 years biopsies of the larynx of 3000 patients were taken out. At 319 patients the first histodiagnosis "Leukoplakia" was made. 10% carcinomas were found out later on grounds of observation of the course and by letter. 7% of these carcinomas occured within 1 year after the first histodiagnosis of "Leukoplakia". The first biopsy of these 7% carcinomas diagnosed as a "Leukoplakia" must be interpreted as a biopsy out of the marginal area of an already existent carcinoma. 3% of the carcinomas developed from the "Leukoplakia" just in the following years.
