[Jewish socio-cultural aspects of Freud's thought].

Each original work, besides its scientific and universal characteristics, keeps links with the personality of its creator. Starting with evidence of the acceptance by Freud of his Jewish roots, we try to show that some aspects of psychoanalysis can be enlightened by considering specific problems of Judaism. The resemblance between psychoanalytical thinking and the Jewish mystical tradition is full of mystery.

[Phrenitis in the Hippocratic Corpus: a philological and medical study].

Phrenitis has a history, from Hippocrates to Pinel. This study is owed to two scholars of different disciplines; the first is a classicist, the other a psychiatrist. It only concerns "phrenitis" in the Hippocratic Corpus. The authors have come to the conclusion that phrenitis has a pathology similar to the organic delirium.

The revision of the mental health commitment law in Belgium: the medical viewpoint.

Recently, the 1850 commitment law in Belgium has undergone dramatic revisions. These changes were implemented mainly at the request of law reformers who were concerned about the implications for civil liberties of institutionalization and who took into account the modern psychiatric treatment successes. Despite the fact that this legislation has promoted better progress in comparison with the original one, it has only been approved by the legal profession. The medical profession on the contrary is very critical and considers that this new measure gives few possibilities for the management of the doctor-patient relationship. The aim of the authors is to discuss, from a medical viewpoint, the advantages and disadvantages of the new law and to deliver some practical and ethical considerations.

[Which model of psychotherapeutic training for which psychiatric practice?].

The author defends the viewpoint that, in opposition to the legislator, a training in psychotherapy must be maintained as part of the residency in psychiatry. He makes a review of existing training models and proposes an "integrative" training model, open to the great psychotherapeutical orientations.
