Crystal structure of N-(tri-O-acetyl-alpha-D-xylopyranosyl)pyridinium bromide.

The structure of N-(2,3,4-tri-O-acetyl-alpha-D-xylopyranosyl)pyridinium bromide was determined by X-ray crystallography and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Two xylopyranosyl moieties crystallize with three water molecules and there is a novel pattern of Br(-) and H(2)O contacts. Both xylopyranosyl rings in the asymmetric unit have the 1C(4) conformation, with all three axial O-Ac groups.

Preparation, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and high-resolution NMR spectroscopic analyses of N-(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-beta-D-glucopyranosyl) trimethylammonium bromide.

Preparation of N-(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-beta-D-glucopyranosyl)trimethylammonium bromide as the unique N-glycosylated quaternary salt derived from trialkylamine is described. The structure of the compound was elucidated by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and by single-crystal X-ray analysis as well.

[Proposals of rational procedures for certifying occupational voice disorders].

Following a long period of experience acquired in assessing occupation-related voice disorders, the proposals of objective measures, facilitating the certification of occupational disease of the voice organ in accordance with the binding legal regulations, are presented. The importance of documentary evidence of at least two years of treatment and phoniatric rehabilitation is stressed. A need to prevent occupation-related voice disorders through phoniatric diagnostic procedures is highlighted.

[Pleomorphic adenoma of atypical location].

The authors described 2 cases of adenoma pleomorphum localised out of salivary glands. One of them was located in mucous of cheek and another one on the palate. All patients were treated surgically.

[A case of carcinoma adenoides cysticum in the external auditory canal].

The authors present a case of a woman aged 31 with carcinoma adenoides cysticum at external auditory canal. The tumor was surgically removed; after 9 month a recrudescence was ascertained but there were no metastasis to other organs. The tumor was once more surgically removed. Now it has been a year of observation and no renewal of neoplastic process was noticed.

Preparation, chemical and crystal structures of N-(2-acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-beta-D-glucopyranosyl)pyridinium chloride.

Preparation and isolation of N-(2-acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-beta-D-glucopyranosyl)pyridinium chloride are described. Its structure was determined by 1H NMR spectroscopy and X-ray analysis. X-ray crystallography revealed that the salt crystallizes with one molecule of water. Ab initio calculations were used to determine charges on atoms in the cation of the title compound.

[A case of chemodectoma in the middle ear].

In the paper, the authors present a case of a woman aged 50 with chemodectoma of the middle ear. The tumor was entirely surgically removed without any complications. There have been no signs of neoplastic recurrence during 3 years of observation.

Ear Neoplasms↗

[Mixed hearing loss in the case of Goldenhar-Gorlin syndrome].

The authors describe a rare case of Goldenhar-Gorlin Syndrome, also called oculoauriculovertebral dysplasia (OAV) or hemifacial microsomia. Goldenhar's syndrome was accompanied by hearing loss caused by deformity of the auricle and atresia of the external auditory canal.

[Hoarseness resulting from post-intubation arytenoid cartilage subluxation in an 11-year-old girl].

There has been described a case of the right arytenoid cartilage subluxation in a 11-year-old girl who underwent several intubations and bronchoscopies as a newborn and an infant. The voice has gone hoarse owing to those interventions. Videolaryngoscopy revealed anterior and medial dislocation of the right arytenoid cartilage accompanied by the immobility in the cricoarytenoid joint, right vocal movement being preserved. Voice therapy was not successful as the parents lost their interest, considering the present child's voice to be normal.

[Laryngeal chondroma].

A case of laryngeal chondroma coming out of cricoid cartilage in a 55-year-old man was described. Clinical characteristics of the neoplasm was presented on the basis of literature.
