Study on the spectroelectrochemical properties of S-benzyl-N-(ferrocenyl-1-methyl-metylidene)-dithio-carbazate nickel (II) complex.

Mechanism of electron transfer of a bridge biferrocene complex, Ni(LSB)2, derived from the Schiff base ligand, HLSB, S-benzyl-N-(ferrocenyl-1-methyl-metylidene)-dithio-carbazate Ni(LSB)2, during redox processes is illuminated by in-situ Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroelectrochemistry. The results indicated that two consecutive one-electron steps were involved which gives the corresponding mono- and di-ferricenium cations, respectively. This complex exhibits moderately strong degree of electronic communication between the two-ferrocene moieties, taking place through the skeleton chain of the ligand due to an extensive electron delocalization in the molecule. Possible pathways of electron transfer of Ni(LSB)2 during the redox processes are postulated.

Electrocatalytic oxidation of hydroxylamine on glassy carbon electrodes modified by hybrid copper-cobalt hexacyanoferrate films.

An electrochemical sensor for amperometric detection of hydroxylamine was developed by electrodeposition of hybrid copper-cobalt hexacyanoferrate films on a glassy carbon electrode. The modified electrode could reduce the overpotential of the hydroxylamine oxidation by about 400 mV. This sensor exhibited a linear relationship between the response current and the hydroxylamine concentration in the range of 1.8 x 10(3) M to 4.6 x 10(-6) M with a detection limit of 2.1 x 10(-7) M. Good agreement was obtained between results from the present method and conventional UV-visible spectrophotometry results. The sensor had good recovery, stability and anti-interference ability.

A novel chemiluminescent method for the determination of salicylic acid in bactericidal solutions.

A new flow-injection procedure has been developed for the determination of salicylic acid based on the enhancement of the chemiluminescence from the cerium(IV)-Tween 20 reaction by salicylic acid in acidic medium. The method is simple, selective and sensitive with a detection limit of 2.5x10(-9) g mL(-1). It is applicable to the determination of salicylic acid in the concentration range of 4.0x10(-9)-1.1x10(-6) g mL(-1). The relative standard deviation (RSD) is 0.85% for 4.0x10(-7) g mL(-1) salicylic acid (n=11). The method has been successfully applied to the determination of salicylic acid in bactericidal solutions. Furthermore, it is suggested that light emission from cerium(IV)-Tween 20 reaction is probably because of the formation of singlet oxygen 1O2* and the emitter is excited oxygen molecular pairs O2(1delta(g))O2(1sigma(g)-).

Approximate derivative calculated by using continuous wavelet transform.

A novel method of calculating approximate derivative of signals in analytical chemistry by using the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) is proposed. As compared with numerical differentiation, FT method and DWT method, fast calculation, and simple mathematical operation are remarkable advantages of CWT method. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of approximate derivative of signals calculated by CWT method is easily enhanced only through appropriately adjusting the dilation, even in the case of very low SNR. Therefore, CWT method is a powerful tool for performing the approximate derivative calculation of signals in analytical chemistry. Additionally, the approximate second derivative evaluated via CWT method can be used to determine the peak potentials of the overlapping square wave voltammogram (SWV) of Cd(II) and In(III), and the results are very satisfactory.
