In 48 patients a significantly elevated plasma digoxin concentration (2.5 micrograms/l or more) correlated with the clinical symptoms and the electrocardiogram. The rhythm and conduction disturbances as well as the corrected Q-T interval and the P-T-Q index in the electrocardiogram were analyzed. In 23 patients rhythm and conduction disturbances were found. The clinical symptoms of digoxin overdose were found in 23 patients. There was no significant relationship between the corrected Q-T interval in the electrocardiogram and digoxin concentrations (r = 0.19); P-T-Q index and plasma digoxin concentrations were found to have similar values (r = 0.27), as did prolonged P-Q interval and plasma digoxin concentrations (r = 0.32). A total of 17 of 48 patients had had chronic renal failure. An S-T segment depression mostly of decreasing type was found in the whole group, suggesting that this sign was more reliable as an indicator of digitalis effect than corrected Q-T interval, P-T-Q index, or prolonged P-R interval.
In a representative sample of 624 people, 65-84 years of age, from six regions of Croatia, Yugoslavia, proteinuria was investigated on the basis of certain medical characteristics. Established proteinuria was seen in 30.8% of females and 27.4% of males. Proteinuria was found to be significantly more common in people with urinary tract infections. Arterial hypertension with heart failure was more often seen in patients with than in patients without proteinuria, but the difference was not statistically significant.

The prevalence of right bundle branch block (RBBB) according to clinical findings was investigated in 4210 randomly selected subjects of both sexes, aged 35 to 54, in 1969 and after a period of three years (1972). Rheumatic heart disease and decreased forced vital capacity were more often found in persons with RBBB than in persons without RBBB. The prevalence of RBBB was 0.24% in 1969 and 0.35% in 1972. Incomplete RBBB (iRBBB) was found in 2.95% in 1969 and in 1.64% in 1972. The R1 smaller than the R wave in V1 or V2 was seen in 3.37% in 1969 and in 2.72% in 1972. RBBB remained constant over a period of three years, iRBBB was constant in 40.8% and R1 smaller than the R wave in V1/V2 was constant in 34.8%. Hypertension and depression of the S-T segment and inverted T wave before and after exercise were not more frequent in subjects with RBBB than in those without RBBB.
