Recently described entity: ossifying fibromyxoid tumour of soft parts is presented. Schwann cell nature of the proliferating cells was demonstrated by immunohistochemical means. This special kind of nerve sheath tumors is characterised by pathological differentiation of the cells, resulting bone and in some cases additional cartilage formation. As for biological behaviour: in spite of occasional histological evidences of malignancy, no distant metastases are to be expected. Local aggressivity and recurrences may occur, thus designation is preferable as semimalignant or according to more modern terms as low-grade malignant tumour.

Series of problems hidden so far, have been raised by the ongoing efforts to reorganising the previous public health-care organisation into a real, assurance-based system. There became evident the urgent need the main professional duties, their personal, technical-financial conditions and, the basic professional normatives to be defined. In this recent work, attempts are made to give an overview of the possibilities, how the diagnostic surgical pathology may function in the future quality assurance and quality control programs. Problems of internal quality assurance and control methods of diagnostic histopathology are also discussed.
Sharp discrepancy exists between the concepts declared and the measures introduced with urgency by the government and the real praxis of the health-care institutions, which are delivered to and suffer from the heaviest financial-economical restrictions. The situation may partly be attributed to the missing system-specific interpretation of some leading categories. Attempts were made to point at some harmful consequences of this failure and to reinterpret basic categories, so as to contribute to a better agreement of the participants in favour of our patients' welfare.

Rare anomaly: peliosis was found in a young woman, splenectomised for rupture of the spleen. Speculations on the aetiopathogenesis of this peculiar disorder are discussed. Awareness of the pathological curiosity is also of practical relevance, because of the risk of life-threatening haemorrhagic consequences from rupture of the lesions.
A case of a 43 years old woman with malignant non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the portio vaginalis uteri is presented. No systemic involvement could be established. Cases like this were regarded as being extremely rare till now. In the future however increasing frequency among immunodeficient patients may be expected.

Retrospective morphological analysis of 145 malignant melanoma cases was carried out to prove the prognostical importance of some morphological characteristics of the tumor. The cases were divided into two groups according to the survival time. The majority of the tumors with long survival time showed little capacity of invasion, while those with short survival time invaded at deeper levels of the dermis. Other features seemed to be of no prognostical relevance. Difficulties in determining the depth of invasion exactly were also discussed.
