[The characteristics of phallotoxin-specific antibodies studied by immunization with a phallacidin-concanavalin A conjugate].

High titre antiserum was obtained by immunization of rabbits with phalacidine-concanavaline A. Specific antiphalacidine antibodies were isolated from this serum on immobilized phalacidine. It was established by testing with antirabbit globulin sera that these antibodies were of IgG class only. IgG fraction was isolated from the immune serum by ion-exchange chromatography, but specific antibodies, which represented 8% of IgG of the serum, were isolated from it by affinity chromatography. The antibodies isolated by affinity, were tested against other phalatoxines and amotoxines. The results showed that they reacted with phalatoxines, but not with amatoxines and could be used in tests for quantitative determination of phalatoxines in mushroom extracts and body fluids.

[Intermembrane transport and antioxidant action of alpha-tocopherol in liposomes].

Studies were made of the ability of alpha-tocopherol, incorporated into unilamellar liposomes from saturated or unsaturated phospholipids (donor liposomes) to inhibit the accumulation of lipid peroxidation (LPO) products in unilamellar liposomes from rat cerebral cortex lipids (acceptor liposomes) in the presence of LPO inducer (Fe + ascorbate). With the molar alpha-tocopherol: phospholipids rations from 1:1000 to 1:100 in donor liposomes, obtained through sonication of lipid dispersions, alpha-tocopherol was incorporated into both monolayers of liposomes and was distributed in monomeric form without forming clusters. Based on the dependencies of LPO inhibition on the alpha-tocopherol concentrations, we chose the ones that completely prevented the accumulation of LPO products in donor liposomes. Under these conditions LPO inhibition in mixtures of donor and acceptors liposomes was fully determined by the antioxidant effect of alpha-tocopherol in acceptor liposomes due to its intermembrane transfer. The efficiency of the "intermembrane" antioxidant action of alpha-tocopherol increased in the course of preincubation of donor and acceptor liposomes (up to 60 min) and this increase was more pronounced when the donor liposomes contained unsaturated phospholipids. Evidence was obtained that the intermembrane transfer of alpha-tocopherol did not result from the fusion of donor and acceptor liposomes during preincubation.

[Lactate dehydrogenase isoenzyme study of Trichinella larvae of different ages].

LDH isoenzymes of Trichinella larvae isolated from experimentally infected guinea pigs were investigated between days 30 and 400 inclusive after infection. It was found that on the 30 th day after infection the larvae have two isoenzymes while from the 40th to the 400 th day--three isoenzymes. The first of the latter is of fast responce and is located in the anod area near the indicator while the two others are of slow response and are located between the isoenzymes LDH-3 and LDH-5 of the muscular tissue of guinea pigs. This indicates that energetic metabolism of Trichinella larvae proceeds in muscular tissues by aerobic and anaerobic way. Since electrophoretic specificity of LDH-isoenzymes of Trichinella larvae differ from that of LDH-isoenzymes of muscular tissue the former are apparently characteristic of Trichinella larvae.
