Database marketing targets existing patients.
Abstract
Clinical database marketing systems are designed to give hospitals a way to expand in existing markets by approaching regular patients for clinically valid follow-up services. Hospitals use knowledge of disease progression and treatment side effects to contact patients for additional services. Special care should be taken to protect patient confidentiality and to ensure that ethical and legal issues are properly addressed.
