Reprocessing 'single use' devices--why is there so much debate?

Abstract

Reducing costs without compromising standards of patient care challenges health care professionals at all levels. Reprocessing of selected disposable devices can result in major savings when issues are properly addressed. No published standards differentiate quality, function, or length of useful life between reusable and single-use devices.
