Creating a space: when to extract.

Abstract

The decision to provide root canal treatment is based on the desire of the patient to keep his or her tooth and likelihood of success. As there are good options for the replacement of teeth the success of root canal treatment should be weighed against these alternatives. This paper aims to review the literature and give an insight into the factors affecting endodontic success and when it may be best to create a space with extraction.
