Rectal gastric heterotopia in infancy.

Abstract

Heterotopic gastric mucosa is rare in children with most cases presenting in association with Meckel's diverticulum. The authors present a 2-year-old boy with gastric heterotopia of the anorectum, who presented with painless, intermittent rectal bleeding.

Treating common benign anal diseases has evolved towards more outpatient procedures with better outcome. However, minimizing post-procedure morbidities such as pain and the avoidance incontinence remain the most significant concerns.
