Deploying the EMR, Part 1: The basic needs.

Abstract

This case study presents a collection of principles and guidelines regarding the process of selecting and deploying an electronic medical record (EMR) in a physician's practice. Practical advice and observations are detailed about what was learned and how the practice has benefited. In Part 1 of this article, the authors identify the functions that are crucial in an ideal EMR. In Part 2, they will provide their guidelines for implementing these functions.
