[Endoscopic ultrasonography].

Abstract

Despite being a well-described diagnostic procedure for more than ten years, endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is not generally widespread in Denmark. This review deals with the present indications for EUS. For some diseases, EUS has found its precise place in the diagnostic strategy. However, in other diseases, it is not yet clear where to put EUS in relation to other diagnostic procedures.

Role of endosonography in non-malignant pancreatic diseases.

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has emerged as a valuable tool in the evaluation of benign and malignant pancreatic diseases. The ability to obtain high quality images and perform fine-needle aspiration (FNA) has led EUS to become the diagnostic test of choice when evaluating the pancreas. This article will review the role of EUS in benign pancreatic diseases.
