The new clearance method for hepatic diagnostics.

Abstract

New multiparametric analysis and method of their evaluation were derived. The bolus dye injection is used for evaluation of ICG (indicyaningreen) and BSP (bromsulphophtalein) kinetics. This arrangement is a form of spectrophotometric measurement of BSP in plasma and/or pulse dye densitometry of ICG. Clearance values enable to differentiate liver diseases and to add their clinical staging. Pathophysiology of dye kinetics is discussed from two points of view i.e. sinusoidal and canalicular membrane transfer.

Influence of inlet positions on the flow behavior inside a photoreactor using radiotracers and colored tracer investigations.

The influence of the inlet positions on the flow behavior inside a photoreactor has been studied using colored tracer and radiotracer investigations. The photoreactor for water disinfection is a tubular reactor inside which UV emitting lamps are placed. The key to its good performance is a combination of optimum irradiation dose and fluid residence time distributions (RTD). The inlet system is one of the better possibilities of controling the fluid RTD. Three configurations have been tested. In the first step, colored tracer experiments help us to raise the mean trends of the flow behavior for the different configurations. When the inlet is located at the central bottom of the reactor, the flow is closed to a perfect mixing whereas lateral inlets lead to a plug flow with axial dispersion behavior. RTD measurements using radiotracer was carried out in a wide range of flowrates. The axial dispersion coefficient increases linearly with the Reynolds number. It is lower when the lateral inlet is divided in three inlets uniformly distributed around the bottom of the reactor. This paper shows the usefulness of radioactive isotopes as tracers in the field of wastewater treatment.

Determination of optimum operating conditions for industrial dye wastewater treatment using adaptive heuristic criticism pH control.

For a pilot-scale application, pH control in the treatment of highly contaminated dye industrial wastewater containing metallic compounds as the main pollutants has been investigated with a method using adaptive heuristic criticism control (AHCC). Subsequent experimentation on between 12 and 18 l of the wastewater was carried out using statistical experimental design methodology to evaluate the effects of three critical factors: slaked lime (calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH)(2)) concentration, iron chloride (FeCl(3)) concentration and wastewater volume. With these critical factors, the wastewater treatment process is modeled as an appropriate quadratic cost function of the turbidity of the clarified water. The model is optimized with Rosenbrock's method. Response surface topology of the wastewater treatment is given in terms of optimal concentrations of lime water and FeCl(3) and optimal wastewater volume at pH 11.

On the performance of Fe and Fe,F doped Ti-Pt/PbO2 electrodes in the electrooxidation of the Blue Reactive 19 dye in simulated textile wastewater.

The electrochemical performance of pure Ti-Pt/beta-PbO2 electrodes, or doped with Fe and F (together or separately), in the oxidation of simulated wastewaters containing the Blue Reactive 19 dye (BR-19), using a filter-press reactor, was investigated and then compared with that of a boron-doped diamond electrode supported on a niobium substrate (Nb/BDD). The electrooxidation of the dye simulated wastewater (volume of 0.1 l, with a BR-19 initial concentration of 25 mg l(-1)) was carried out under the following conditions: current density of 50 mA cm(-2), volume flow rate of 2.4 l h(-1), temperature of 25 degrees C and electrode area of 5 cm2. The performances of the electrodes in the dye decolorization were quite similar, achieving 100% decolorization, and in some cases 90% decolorization was achieved by applying only ca. 0.3 A h l(-1) (8 min of electrolysis). The reduction of the simulated wastewater organic load, monitored by its total organic carbon content (TOC), was greater for the Ti-Pt/beta-PbO2-Fe,F electrode obtained from an electrodeposition bath containing 1 mM Fe3+ and 30 mM F-. In this case, after 2 h of electrolysis the obtained TOC reduction was 95%, while for the pure beta-PbO2 and the Nb/BDD electrodes the reductions were 84% and 82%, respectively.
