Alternatives to chemical methods for vector control.
Abstract
Under the concept of the integrated approach for disease vector control, chemical pesticides in many cases can be complemented or replaced by ecologically safer alternatives. Environmental management and physical or biological methods of control are attractive adjuncts. Recent advances in biochemical, immunological and genetic studies of host-parasite relationships are creating innovative tools for interrupting vector-borne disease transmission cycles.
