Preparing for primary nursing.

Abstract

Nurses involved in the practice of primary nursing require continuing education and support to enable them to carry out their responsibilities competently. Christopher Turnock argues that nurse education has a major role to play in the planning and implementation of primary nursing at clinical level, and sets out the provisions of a three modular programme designed by nurses educationalists in Newcastle. Despite initial difficulties for students in integrating theory to practice, course evaluations have so far been positive.
