How can we best help other physicians?
Abstract
The physician's life is stressful and demanding despite its many rewards. The physician experiencing emotional problems or addiction often does not get help, since the profession expects doctors to be superior and above the need for assistance. Addiction and affective disorders are highly treatable, but many doctors suffer rather than ask for help. Helping a troubled physician is a valuable investment when we consider the lives affected.
