Hypertensive emergencies.
Abstract
This article examines hypertensive crises and urgencies as they relate to the primary care physician. Special attention is given to the treatment of these conditions in the office setting. Conditions discussed include hypertensive encephalopathy, acute aortic dissection, hypertension and pulmonary edema, severe hypertension with angina or myocardial infarction, pheochromocytoma, eclampsia, and food and drug interactions.
