Application of distributed database systems.

Abstract

The state of development of Distributed Database Systems (DDB) is briefly surveyed and a basic taxonomy of the products, prototypes and architectures presented. The applicability of the approach to applications arising in primary medical care networks is assessed by looking in some detail at three particular offerings in this field. Some insights into and implications for the future direction of DDB research and development are gained from this.
