This report describes a new syndrome of dysgenesis of corpus callosum with other anomalies, presenting as microcephaly, mental retardation, spasticity, and unusual facial appearance in 2 Chinese brothers and their maternal cousins. To date, there has not been any case reported in the Chinese population of this syndrome. All 4 patients in this report present with the same unusual face. Hydrocephalus and/or interhemispheric cyst were found among them. This syndrome is transmitted as an X-linked trait. The nosology is reviewed and discussed.
A 3-year-old Libyan boy with the XXXXY syndrome is described. MRI examination of the brain showed hypoplasia of the corpus callosum. He had growth retardation and endocrine studies demonstrated growth hormone (GH) deficiency. Dermatoglyphic pattern was different from previous reports. At histological examination of the undescended testes, Leydig cells were seen although they are usually not found in this variant of the Klinefelter syndrome.
We report on a Brazilian boy with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome (RTS) with callosal agenesis, iris coloboma, and megacolon. To our knowledge, callosal agenesis, iris coloboma, and megacolon are unusual signs within the clinical spectrum of RTS, and the present association is apparently underscribed.
