The indications, investigations and techniques for treating patients with chyluria are presented. Thirty-eight patients were treated by lymphatic disconnection either at renal hilum or at lower ureter and bladder level. Pedal lymphangiography was essential to decide upon the level of operation. Results were satisfactory in the majority when chyluria was intractable.
Case report of a 60-year old asymptomatic male with a chylous cyst in the right anterior mediastinum. It communicated with the thoracic duct through a narrow vessel with a length of 4 cm. During the eight years of pre-operative observation the cyst varied in size. At one time it disappeared completely, though temporarily. The rarity of this type of mediastinal tumor is stressed.
A case of chyluria presumably caused by Filaria bancrofti is presented. The radiographic and urologic presentation as well as a brief review of the natural history, diagnosis and treatment is included.
