This article describes a procedure and a device to expedite the intraoral recontouring of teeth to receive removable partial dentures. This procedure is particularly useful when heights of contour are lowered on posterior teeth and the path of insertion is perpendicular to the plane of occlusion.
Based the study of the theory of protrusive balanced occlusion in complete denture construction and clinical experience the author established a new simplified theory named "the three principle factors and three laws for protrusive balanced occlusion in complete denture" to guide us to arrange teeth for balanced occlusion in complete denture construction. Based this theory the phenomena of protrusive occlusal disharmony appeared in the process of teeth arrangement and denture insertion can be corrected easily.
There are many treatment modalities for temporomandibular disorders (TMD), most of which are effective in controlling symptoms, at least in the short term. The non-surgical treatment of temporomandibular disorders continues to be the most effective way of managing over 80 per cent of patients who present with symptoms of temporomandibular pain and dysfunction. In this, the second article in the series, a general overview of the current non-surgical treatment strategies for TMD will be presented.
