Faunt et al., have reminded us of the lethal potential of heat-related illness, and emphasised the need for thoughtful prophylaxis to reduce the morbidity and mortality of this largely preventable disease. A high index of suspicion of the presence of heat-related illness in susceptible individuals is essential. Cooling is best achieved by judicious use of fluid replacement along with other resuscitation as necessary.
