[Gastritis - what is left?].
Abstract
The question which is the title of this paper may also be formulated: "What types of gastritis are of clinical relevance?" The question may be answered as follows: 1. Type I, the gastritis constellation in pernicious anemia. 2. Type II, severe antrum gastritis which tends to expand into the cardia region. Stomach ulcers are often preceded; and their localization is determined by this type. 3. Chronic atrophic gastritis of the corpus mucosa as is found in the constellation of pernicious anemia may also be a pathogenic factor in the development of stomach cancer. 4. The chronic atrophic gastritis which may be an important factor in the development of carcinoma of the intestinal type in the elderly.
