The obstructed uterus.
Abstract
Eleven patients with an obstructed, fluid-filled uterus, due to carcinoma of the uterus or to its treatment by radiation therapy, were examined with computer tomography (CT) and/or ultrasound. It is important to recognize this abnormality to differentiate it from other causes of pelvic mass to ensure prompt treatment of pyometra, should it develop. Both CT and ultrasound reliably identified this condition and differentiated it from other pelvic masses.
