Bladder laparoscopic surgery.

Abstract

The advances made in laparoscopic surgery during the last five years have made possible the performance of a variety of bladder level procedures as suspension of the bladder neck, removal of bladder diverticulum and cystectomy. Laparoscopic bladder-neck suspension is purposed by different Authors as a minimally invasive procedure that can be provide efficacious results as like as open surgery, reducing post-operative disconfort. All different laparoscopic technique provide good results at short-term follow-up. A longer follow-up period is required for the evaluation of the effective efficacy of this treatment. In according with other authors, our experience with laparoscopic bladder diverticulectomy demonstrates the feasibility and the potentiality of this technique. Up to now this procedure has been employed in the treatment of diverticula involved in urinary infection or residual urine. At the beginning, laparoscopic cystectomy has been purposed in patients with begin disease; more recently, laparoscopy has been disease; more recently, laparoscopy has been employed for cystectomy in case of bladder cancer. The few cases described demonstrate that the technique is feasible but, until now, laparoscopic cystectomy has been reported just in female patients.

Update on the Camey II procedure.

Between January 1987 and January 1991, 110 detubularized U-shaped ileocystoplasties (Camey II) following radical cystectomy were carried out in our Department of Urology (CMC Foch Suresnes, France). Our first evaluation of this procedure was carried out in 1989 and reviewed initial 57 patients operated on. These data were compared with those of the Camey I operation. The improvement in neobladder capacity as well as nighttime urinary control achieved by the detubularization required in the Camey II operation was obvious. In this article we review the first 110 patients treated by Camey II bladder replacement following cystectomy.

Cystectomy

[Pathologic-anatomic examination of prostatovesiculectomy samples in prostate carcinoma].

The incidence of the prostatic carcinoma as well as the cases treatable by radical prostatovesiculectomy with curative intention is increasing. The exact pathological examination of the specimens defines the stage of disease and subsequently the prognosis and therapeutic consequences. The compatibility of different scientific studies is made difficult by the lack of a standard in the pathological examination of the specimens. Our exactly defined rational method helps eliminate these troubles and ameliorate the interdisciplinary dialogue.
