Low molecular weight immunomodulators produced by microorganisms.

Abstract

In order to develop a new class of low molecular weight immunomodulators for the treatment of incurable diseases involving cancer, hematologic diseases and inflammation, we have sought cytokine inducers and inhibitors of cell adhesion to the extracellular matrix among the low molecular compounds produced by microorganisms. Cytogenin, cytoblastin (a monokine inducer), conagenin (a lymphokine inducer) and delaminomycins and IC-101 (inhibitors of cell adhesion to extracellular matrices) have been recently found in our institute. In this report, we describe the principles of screening and structures, and discuss their biological activities.

Draft genome sequence data of Streptomyces antibioticus SCBA4 isolated from the Soils of Surigao del Sur, Philippines.

The draft genome of Streptomyces antibioticus SCBA4 isolated from the soils of Surigao del Sur, Philippines is reported here. S. antibioticus is a member of the phylum Actinomycetota, a diverse group of Gram positive, high G+C content bacteria well known for their production of a variety of bioactive compounds. Sequencing using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform yielded a 8,616,999 bp genome across 36 contigs with 7621 coding sequences, 87 tRNA, and 1 tmRNA. Consistent with the members of the same phylum, the GC content was 71.83% and was found to contain putative gene clusters of secondary metabolites such as NRPs, terpenes and polyketides. The genome sequence has been deposited at NCBI under the accession number JBSWZT020000000.

Genomes of 211 Actinomycete Strains from Diverse Environments.

Actinomycetes are a highly diverse group of microorganisms that have long been recognized as a valuable source of antibiotics and other bioactive metabolites. Recent advances in genome mining have revealed a wealth of previously unexplored silent secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters (smBGCs) in actinomycete genomes, underscoring their untapped bioactivity potential. Here, we present the genome sequences of 211 actinomycete strains isolated from various environmental sources, generated through high-throughput sequencing. The resulting genome assemblies exhibit high completeness and accuracy, offering high-quality data for downstream analyses and biological resource exploration.
