Abstract
In the hope of achieving greater efficiency and effectiveness, many businesses are streamlining operations. Industry-specific factors and economics-driven global philosophical shifts have put hospitals under pressure to downsize. Although eliminating staff positions is a painful and emotional process, it can be done rationally.
