Case studies in work redesign: cost considerations in a work redesign project.
Abstract
Regardless of the limitations and comprehensiveness of plans for redesign, at least one common consideration prevails. Decisions to redesign should be well planned with specific attention to the details of the costs involved. As the unique needs of the institution are incorporated into the plan, a thorough cost-benefit analysis should be used to determine final decisions. Without specific attention to a number of factors, including those noted above, the restructuring project may fall short of the intended goals of reducing costs and may actually increase costs.
