Abstract

With the redefinition of health care in the United States, more and more nurses are being drawn into the decision-making arena. They are actively involved in the allocation of human and material resources. Critical paths are being developed to help monitor efficient, cost-effective, and quality patient care. As a result of these critical paths, nurses are evaluating the courses of patient care in terms of outcomes.
