[Shift work systems from the chronobiological viewpoint].
Abstract
First important stresses and strains of shiftworkers are shortly presented. Thereafter the following recommendations for the design of shift systems from the chronobiological point of view are explained: 1) The shift system should have only few night shifts in succession (maximum 3) and morning shifts should also rotate quickly. 2) The morning shift should not begin too early and 3) the forward rotation (MEN) is more favourable than the backward rotation of shifts (NME). Finally 3 cases from the industry are presented, in which these recommendations have been realized.
